BW Offshore has a fleet of core FPSO’s, and has executed 40 FPSO and FSO projects. We have an extensive track record of project execution and operations, as well as a robust balance sheet and strong financial capabilities.

BW Group owns 49.9% of the shares in the company.
Progressing the Future
Building one of the world’s largest gas FPSOs
In 2021, BW Offshore signed a contract to build an FPSO to be operated on the Barossa gas field, which is located 300 kilometres offshore Darwin in northern Australia.The FPSO, BW Opal, measures an impressive 358,57 x 64 metres, with a gas handling capacity of 850 MMSCFD. BW Opal will be turret moored with a newbuilt hull based on BW Offshore’sRapidFramework® design.This robust design can accommodate the most advanced topsides, which in BW Opal’s case will be approximately 35,000 tons.
Since arriving in the yard in Singapore November 2023, 16 modules have been lifted and integrated onboard BW Opal. With the heavy lifts complete, BW Offshore has moved into the final stage of integration, and the commencement of the commissioning phase where it will be ensured that all systems and components of the facility are installed and tested to meet our rigorous standards. This critical process will ensure that BW Opal operates safely, efficiently and reliably.
The project is on schedule for first gas in 2025.

For us, getting ready for the future includes combining existing FPSO and floating wind capabilities to develop and deploy clean offshore energy production and develop new adjacent business areas. These may include low-carbon FPSOs powered by floating wind or floating gas-to-power plants.
BW Offshore is looking into several areas of renewable energy that fit well with our existing business of operating FPSOs, and where we believe we can leverage already existing capabilities within our organisation.
